WESTPORT, Conn. -- Westport police arrested a 39-year-old town man on a charge of breach of peace after an incident at a restaurant, police said.
The arrest came about when officers were dispatched to Pearl Restaurant, 260 Compo Road S., on a report of a disturbance Thursday at 10:30 p.m., police report.
An off-duty Stamford police officer saw the suspect, identified as Neil Bhatia, push a female victim against a wall in the restaurant, police said.
The off-duty officer escorted Bhatia outside as Westport officers arrived at the scene; Bhatia was belligerent, uncooperative and intoxicated, police said.
He was taken into custody and held on $10,000 bond. He was scheduled to appear in court Friday.
