Van Slams Into Utility Pole In Westport

Some Westport residents were without power for several hours after a van slammed into a utility pole, snapping it in half.

The incident took place on Wedgewood Road in the afternoon on Thursday, April 18, said the Westport Fire Department.

Police, fire and emergency personnel responded to the crash, that damaged the pole, in turn, causing a power outage in the area.

Power crews worked to replace the pole, returning power to all by 8 p.m.

There was no word of injuries.
