Two Fairfield County teenagers are in police custody after police in Connecticut utilized social media to track them down for allegedly rummaging through more than two dozen vehicles overnight.

Investigators at the Milford Police Department received several reports on Thursday, Feb. 21 of vehicles that had been gone through overnight. In total, police received 25 complaints over the course of the day.

According to police, utilizing “in-depth investigative measures, including social media posts, public assistance, video surveillance and interaction with other law enforcement agencies,” officers were able to develop a suspect in the thefts from motor vehicles when the suspect used credit cards that had been stolen.

On Friday, police announced that officers responded to a Stratford residence to speak with Jenna McNeill, 18, who was with Edwin Cordero, 18, who were both arrested and taken into custody in relation to the thefts.

Police noted that “several items of value were recovered, with owners being notified." There are additional arrests pending.

Both McNeill and Cordero were charged with burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary, larceny, conspiracy to commit larceny, credit card theft, fraudulent use of an ATM, and illegal use of credit cards.

McNeill was additionally charged with identity theft and receiving goods obtained by illegal use of a credit card. Cordero was also charged with interfering with arrest.

Cordero is being held on a $100,000 bond, while McNeill is being held on a $50,000 bond. Each is scheduled to appear in Milford Court on Friday, Feb. 22.
