Teen Arrested In Stolen Car At Westport Train Station

WESTPORT, Conn. -- Westport police have arrested an 18-year-old resident of New Haven on larceny and multiple other charges following a motor vehicle chase that ended at the Saugatuck Train Station, police said.

The arrest came about when Westport Officer Kevin Smith attempted to stop a vehicle on Riverside Avenue on Friday, Nov. 11, around 3 a.m., according to police.

The vehicle fled the scene, resulting in a brief pursuit that ended in lot two of the train station, police said.

The suspect, identified as Dakarai Harper, was taken into custody, according to police.

The vehicle was determined to have been stolen in Norwalk; but the theft had not initially been reported, police said.

Harper has been charged with larceny in the third degree in connection with the crime, according to police.

He has also been charged with disobeying the signal of an officer, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle without a license and operating an unregistered motor vehicle, police said.

The defendant’s bond was set at $15,000, according to police.

He has been given a court date of Monday, Nov. 21, in Norwalk, police said.
