The first burglary took place on Butler Lane in New Canaan on Friday, Oct. 1, where a rear glass door was broken to enter the home. An initial report is that jewelry was stolen, said Chief Leon Krolikowski.

The home, he added, did not have an alarm system.

The second burglary took place on Hoyt Farm Road, on Friday, Oct. 8, where again the rear door was broken to enter the home. An alarm was activated, which caused officers to discover the burglary.

Again, jewelry and handbags were stolen.

The final burglary also took place on Friday, Oct. 8 on Juniper Road where a rear door was broken to enter the home.

The home did not have an alarm system, the chief said. Cash, jewelry, and a passport were stolen.

Krolikowski said all of the cases are under investigation and patrols have been increased throughout the town.

The chief also said residents can take simple steps such as having an alarm system, making sure all doors and windows are locked, and keeping bushes and trees trimmed to prevent burglars from targeting their homes.

"Don’t give the burglar a chance," he said. "Follow our advice to help keep your home and valuables safe."
