Neary's name will be added to the memorial during the 11th annual Connecticut State Firefighters Memorial Service. He had been a member of the Easton Fire Department for more than 10 years, and his brother, Peter, is the Easton fire marshal.
Governor Dannel P. Malloy will be the keynote speaker at Sunday's memorial service, and Lt. Gov. Nancy Wyman will also make remarks.
The event is held by the Connecticut State Firefighters Association Memorial Foundation, in cooperation with the Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection and the Commission on Fire Prevention and Control.
The memorial service is set for 12:30 p.m. Sunday at the Connecticut Fire Academy; 34 Perimeter Road, Windsor Locks, near Bradley Airport.
Neary, 55, had worked for 33 years at General Re in Stamford. He was a vice president and was an underwriter in the Global Ocean Marine division.
He graduated from Fairfield Prep and Holy Cross. He was also a soccer coach, president of the Easton Fire Department and an MRT with Easton EMS.
Neary is survived by his wife, Mary Anne, and two daughters.
