A man took police on an early morning high-speed chase in Fairfield County before being taken into custody,
An officer from the Westport Police Department on patrol at approximately 1:45 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 4 spotted a sedan speeding on Main Street. When the officer attempted to stop the car, the driver instead speeded up and attempted to evade police.
According to police, the driver - identified as Stamford resident Tanmay Pathre - was later spotted at the intersection of Post Road West and Riverside Avenue, when he was clocked going 85 mph. An officer eventually was able to get Pathre to stop on Riverside Avenue.
Pathre, 32, was arrested and charged with disobeying the signal of an officer, reckless driving and reckless endangerment. He was released on $1,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Justice Court on Nov. 19.
