Cullen Walsh, of Weston, was identified as the person killed in the crash, according to the Westport Police Department.

The crash was discovered before 1:00 a.m. on Sunday, April 14, when the Westport Police and fire departments responded to a report of a large fire in the area of 57 Weston Road, said Westport Police Lt. Jillian Cabana.

Arriving emergency units located a vehicle fully engulfed in flames. The vehicle had struck a utility pole and two trees, downing electrical wires, police said.

Preliminary information indicates speed and a failure to negotiate the roadway were factors in the accident, Cabana said.  The incident remains under investigation.

An obituary for Walsh said he was born July 19, 1979, in Whitman, Massachusetts and graduated from Boston College with a degree in accounting. He was a partner at Grant Thornton, LLP, according to his obituary.

"Cullen was known for his compassion and soft smile, and his calm demeanor and personality put everyone at ease," his obituary said.

He was also known as a humble and genuinely all-around nice guy, who loved dogs, cooking, dancing and hosting dinner parties for family and friends.

Walsh is survived by wife, Meredith A. (Brown) Walsh, parents Bill and Joan Walsh, brother and sister-in-law David and Laura Walsh, sister and brother-in-law Beth and Tom Blinn, sister Mary Walsh, sister and brother-in-law Cheryl and Bill Provost, brother and sister-in-law Billy and Kellie Walsh, and aunt MaryAnn Galbraith and her daughter Brittney Galbraith.
