Stamford Fire Department say they responded at 5:41 p.m. Thursday, May 23 to a report of a house fire at 513 Fairfield Avenue.
Upon arrival, firefighters found a two-and-a-half- story wood frame two-family duplex house with smoke coming from the second floor said Stamford Fire Department's report.
The residents had evacuated and reported that a bedroom on the second floor was burning
Firefighters stretched a handline to the burning bedroom and quickly controlled the fire before it could spread throughout the building.
Additional handlines were stretched to protect from fire extension into the attic space. The building was searched for victims and fire spread and neither were found.
The fire was declared under control at 6:14 p.m., said Stamford Fire.
Firefighters ventilated the home and spread covers to control water damage on the first floor.
There was heavy fire damage to the one bedroom with moderate smoke and water damage throughout the rest of the home, said Stamford Fire.
There were working smoke detectors in the home, according to the report.
One occupant was injured during the evacuation and was assessed by Stamford EMS paramedics but refused to be transported to the hospital, according to Stamford Fire Department.
The City Fire Marshal's Office responded to the scene and determined that the cause of the fire was electrical in nature, the report said.
Stamford Police was on scene to control traffic.
A total of five engine companies, one truck company, the heavy rescue company, the on-duty deputy chief, and several support units responded with a total of 38 firefighters.
The final fire company left the scene at 7:53 pm.
