WESTPORT, Conn. -- Royal Sandford Graves III died Sept.19 at his home in Westport. He was 92.
He was the son of Royal S. Graves II and Eva May Thomson.
Graves, a graduate of Harvard University and a longtime elementary school principal, also served in the Army Weather Corps.
He enjoyed genealogy, golfing, stamp collecting and camping and was active in the Westport Unitarian Church.
He was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Alice Graves.
Graves is survived by his two sons; Royal S. Graves, IV (JianQun Fu) and Allan Morse Graves (Patty Graves); two grandchildren, Meghan Eve Graves and Evan Watkins Graves (Megan Turner); and half-brother, Robert Ralston Graves (Nancy).
The family will host a service at 12:30 p.m. Oct. 3 at the Westport Unitarian Church, 10 Lyons Plains Road, Westport. A reception will follow. to celebrate his life through music, words, and stories.
