Charles Krehel, 84, Of Easton

EASTON, Conn. -- Charles A. Krehel, of Easton, died Thursday, Oct. 15. He was 84.

He was husband, for 60 years of Teresa M. (Daly) Krehel.

Krehel was born to the late John and Mary (Sulik) Krehel.

Krehel had a distinguished military service in the U.S Army as an adjutant to a general during the Korean War.

He graduated from Fairfield University/B.E.I as a mechanical engineer with post-graduate studies in education.

Krehel's career as a business owner and executive spanned several decades across a range of industries, including Olin and Exxon Corporations, and he continued his service prior to retirement with the U.S. Navy as an engineering professional for NAVPRO, supporting Sikorsky aircraft development.

He had a passion for sailing and enjoyed excursions to the shoreline along Cape Cod and Florida's Gulf of Mexico. Krehel made an impact in his community as a tutor and mentor at Joel Barlow High School.

In addition to his wife, Krehel is survived by his children, Colleen and husband the Rev. Vincent Seadale, of Martha's Vineyard; son, Gregg Krehel, of Newtown (Eleni Brookis); and former spouse, PattiAnn of Southbury; grandchildren, Caitlin Celella (Andy), Bridget Seadale (James) and Tara Krehel (Rachel); sister, Marian Zelle; brothers, John and Richard Krehel. 

He was predeceased by a brother, Lawrence Krehel.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at Notre Dame of Easton Church, 655 Morehouse Road, Easton.

Interment will follow in St. John's Cemetery in Monroe.
