WESTON, Conn. - Arlene Sargent Sundy of Weston died Oct. 27. She was 77.
Sundy was born Aug. 5, 1936, in Coral Gables, Fla., to Charles and Lottie Sargent. She grew up in Avon Park, Fla., and attended Avon Park High School before graduating from Florida State University in 1958. She and her husband, Bob started a family in Atlanta and lived in Jacksonville and Miami, Florida before relocating to Weston in 1969. She was active in the Norfield Congregational Church and other civic activities. She was trained as a teacher and taught briefly in Jacksonville before marriage. She resumed her teaching career in the 1980s in the Norwalk public schools. She retired to Durham, N.C. in 1999.
Sundy is survived by her son, John Sargent Sundy (Cynthia Anne); four grandchildren; son-in-law, David Morrison Tingue of Wilmette, Ill.; many in-laws; and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Mason Sundy; and daughter, Robin Sundy Tingue.
A family memorial service will be scheduled in the future.
