WESTPORT, Conn. -- Town Operations Director Dewey Loselle has resigned from the position he's held since June 2014, Westport First Selectman Jim Marpe announced.

The resignation was effective Nov. 18.

Loselle was appointed to his position following a national search process conducted by a bi-partisan selection committee.

During his tenure, Loselle initiated and led numerous town projects, including comprehensive energy savings Initiative across town and school buildings; completion of the Downtown Master Plan and a number of projects associated with its implementation; the Fire Department Strategic Plan; Town Hall Space Analysis; re-engineering of the town’s land use departments resulting in improved coordination and efficiency; and sale of the Town-owned 99 Myrtle Ave. (Emily McLaury House).

He is credited with the town receiving numerous grants, including the Saugatuck TOD Master Planning Grant ($440,000) and the CDBG Disaster Recovery Flood Mitigation Study ($650,000), said the announcement.

“I wish Dewey well as he pursues other interests. His input, determination, work ethic, and expertise have been invaluable to the Town employees, department heads and, most importantly, to the residents of this community," said Marpe.

"As an example of that dedication, Dewey has indicated his desire to remain on several of the Town committees to which he was appointed as a resident and elector of Westport.”

The process to fill the Operations Director position will begin immediately and will include a bi-partisan search committee process similar to the 2014 search, Marpe said.
