Westport Alerts Drivers About Construction, Road Closures In Downtown

WESTPORT, Conn. -- In an effort to coordinate the construction activities of several ongoing projects in the downtown area, the town of Westport has approved a schedule for early morning construction work and road closures as follows:

  • Sept. 29 through Oct. 13 : Elm Street will be closed from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Access to Elm Street’s Baldwin Parking Lot will be available via Church Lane only.
  • On the following dates, there will be a change: Monday, Sept. 28; Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 7 to 8; and Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 1 4 to 15. On those days, early morning construction work (concrete pouring) will take place at Bedford Square. Beginning at 4 a.m., Church Lane from its intersection at Elm Street to Post Road East will be closed. General vehicular traffic will be detoured via Elm Street. 
These closures are necessary to complete projects as quickly as possible with minimal inconvenience and to insure public safety, the town said. 

Any work or weather stoppages that affect the schedule will be addressed, and the public will be notified at that time. 

The public’s continued patience and cooperation are appreciated, the town said.
