EASTON, Conn. — A total of 83 percent of Easton residents were without power late Tuesday afternoon after Hurricane Sandy struck, Police Chief James Candee said.
United Illuminating crews were working to restore service, he said.
An emergency shelter was open Monday night at the Senior Center. Nine people took shelter, and more arrived Tuesday morning for breakfast. The Senior Center lost power and doesn't have a generator, but it plans to remain open Tuesday night, town clerk Derek Buckley said.
