“During this holiday season, I want to extend my best wishes to all Westporters for health, happiness and prosperity in the upcoming year and beyond.

"I am profoundly grateful that we live in a community whose small town character is reflected in its traditions and caring nature. I am humbled by those who provide service and share their time, talents and resources to benefit all of us. Westport is fortunate that so many individuals work without question or agenda to help those in need.

"I appreciate the widely shared belief held by my fellow Westporters that all people have ideas and viewpoints that deserve acceptance and thoughtful consideration. I am proud that as neighbors we join together, despite our differences, to preserve and maintain a sense of peace and tranquility in our small corner of the world.

"It is my hope that we, as a caring community, remember this simple but poignant phrase attributed to Mother Teresa, 'If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other.'

"On behalf of the Town of Westport and its employees and staff, I wish you a joyful holiday season and peace in 2015.”
