The exhibition features work by The Westport Arts Center's members. The deadline for submission is Feb. 21.
Patricia Hickson, the Emily Hall Tremaine Curator of Contemporary Art at the Wadsworth Atheneum in Hartford, will oversee the SOLOS 2014 exhibit. Hickson oversees the contemporary art collection and acquisitions, organizes special exhibitions, and leads the MATRIX program, a series of changing exhibitions of contemporary art.
“Patricia Hickson is a curator who has her finger on the pulse of contemporary art, both internationally and locally. With her astute eye, she selects works that are not only aesthetically pleasing, but are also of substance and meaning,” said Helen Klisser During, director of visual arts at the Westport Arts Center. “I have no doubt that Patricia will shine a light on original and compelling works from our local member artists.”
Arts Center members, and anyone who joins as a member, are invited to submit two to eight pieces in painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, video, ceramics and mixed media. Hickson will select up to eight artists to exhibit their work in SOLOS 2014, which will be on view at the Arts Center from April 4 to June 1. For more information and to submit artwork, residents are asked to visit the SOLOS 2014 webpage.
