WESTPORT, Conn. — Are you a budding entrepreneur? A craftsman? A performer just searching for a stage?
Now’s the time to sign up for the 7th annual Maker Faire Westport, a showcase for imaginative types from across the state that’s expected to draw a whopping 12,000 attendees to downtown Westport on April 21.
“We are looking for creative people who want to share their energy and talents with others,” said Mark Mathias, founder and co-chair of Maker Faire Westport. “We are inviting artists, musicians, engineers, craftsmen, entrepreneurs, students, teachers, businesspeople, comedians and creative people of all ages and backgrounds to inspire attendees with what we as humans can do.”
This year’s theme is #WeAreConnecticut and it will highlight the people, places and organizations that make Connecticut a great place to live and work.
“Our expanded venues and multiple stages will give makers the opportunity to not only have space to engage our attendees, but be on stages to speak about, demonstrate and interact with interested, curious people,” said Alex Giannini, manager of Experiential Learning at the Westport Library and co-chair of Maker Faire Westport.
Maker Faire Westport began in 2011 as the first official Maker Faire event in Connecticut. It has grown to be the state’s largest event focused on creativity and innovation. More than 50,000 people have attended and it has been a catalyst for tinkerers, artisans, engineers, schools, libraries, companies and communities.
Apply online at westport.makerfaire.com/call-for-makers. The deadline to apply is March 15.
