Greenburgh Nature Center's Upcoming Events Include Pumpkin Carving, Parade

GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- The Greenburgh Nature Center has released its programs and events for the fall.

An interactive stroll around the GNC property will take place on Sunday, Oct. 4, at 2 p.m. Members cost $5 per person; nonmembers cost $8 per person.

The Fall Festival, held Sunday, Oct. 11, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m., will include scarecrow building, pumpkin carving and painting, cider making, animals and more. If registered by Saturday, Oct. 10, the cost is $5 for members; $10 for nonmembers. Children younger than 2 are admitted free. The cost on the day of the event is $8 for members; $15 for nonmembers.

Scarecrows and Pumpkins Parade will be Sunday, Oct. 25, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m., when children can arrive in costume to meet storybook characters, enjoy treats and more. If registered by Saturday, Oct. 24, cost is $5 for members; $10 for nonmembers. Children younger than 2 are admitted free. On the day, the cost is $8 for members; $15 for nonmembers.

The Turkey Scavenger Hunt will be held Sunday, Nov. 15 at 1:30 p.m., when toddlers can enjoy a turkey hunt along the woodland trail and enjoy snacks and crafts afterward. Cost for members if $6; nonmembers is $9. Children younger than 2 are free.

The Yonkers Model Railroad Club will present Trains -- Your Ticket to the Great Outdoors, which will run on weekends only from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. Saturdays, Nov. 28, Dec. 5 and Dec. 12, and Sundays, Nov. 29, Dec. 6 and Dec. 13. Members get in free; nonmember adults cost $10, seniors cost $9 and children 2-12 cost $8. Children younger than 2 are free. The cost includes admission to all Manor House exhibits.

On Halloween, Oct. 31, at 2 p.m., children can experience the Greenburgh Nature Center and make spooky crafts to take home. Members cost $5 per person; nonmembers cost $8 per person.

Learn more about bats and how they live, what they eat and more Thursday, Nov. 1, at 2 p.m. The event is free for members; $8 per person for nonmembers.
