Jonathan Beck, of New Milford, was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, failure to maintain the proper lane, and reckless endangerment, according to Connecticut State Police. He was arrested Friday, April 11.

Police said Beck’s BMW veered off Route 39 in New Fairfield on March 14 and crashed into a utility pole, which collapsed onto a parked vehicle, according to an arrest warrant. A witness told police he had been speeding and driving recklessly at the time of the crash.

Beck told police he was coming from a wine tasting at a new restaurant and had the equivalent of one glass of wine. However, police said his blood-alcohol level measured .20 when taken at the hospital—more than twice the legal limit of .08, the warrant said.

He was released after posting a $5,000 bond, police said.
