WESTPORT, Conn. -- Saugatuck Fabrics in Westport celebrated the grand opening of its Saugatuck Avenue location Saturday afternoon with a ribbon-cutting and party.
Owned by Ida Boci and Leonora Silber, the store specializes in furniture upholstery and reupholstery, window treatments, custom cushions, slipcovers, pillows and clothing alterations.
"Leonora and I worked together in the fashion industry for many years, and we've been friends for a long time, so we decided to open up something for us," said Boci.
She said that they offer a wide range of fabrics, many of which are custom-made by hand in the shop. They work closely with design professionals and their customers to make sure that their furniture and other items look fashionable and new.
"It's a dream come true," said Silber. She said that they chose Westport because it was a great location.
"We do an excellent job. It's not just fabrics, we provide a great experience and customer satisfaction," Silber said.
"We are excited that specialty shops such as Saugatuck Fabrics choose to open businesses here in Westport. We wish them much success in their endeavors," said First Selectman Jim Marpe.
