Attorney Hale Sargent of Westport, whose law firm is now representing Friedman's estate, closed the doors to the Weston landmark because of a cash flow problem with the business, according to the Weston Forum.

Sargent said he is meeting with prospective buyers and hopes that the closure is short and the planned events will be held, the Forum said.

A note on the website says the Cobb's Mill Inn “is temporarily closed due to the passing of owner Drew Friedman. Plans are in motion to reopen Weston’s beloved landmark," says the post from the staff.

"We have always been committed to being there for the community and our commitment will not change. Thank you everyone for your support and please join us in our future endeavors as we embark on our transition period.”

Drew Friedman, 86, a real estate developer, died at his Westport home Saturday, Feb. 27. He bought the Cobb’s Mill Inn in 2011.
