The victims were discovered on Tuesday, April 15, after a call to 911 at around 10:45 a.m. reported multiple unresponsive individuals inside a residence in Clay Township, on State Route 7, according to Gallia County Sheriff Matt Champlin. Gallia County is located in southeast Ohio and borders West Virginia.

When emergency personnel arrived, it was confirmed that the five had died inside the residence, Champlin said.

The Gallia County Coroner has found that the individuals died as a result of exposure to carbon monoxide gas inside the home.

The adults who died have been identified as Brian A. Doss, age 35, and Lora Schuman, age 34. All of the victims resided at the home, Champlin said.

"Though we have reached certain conclusions at this point, this investigation remains open to allow us to seek further details surrounding the events of this tragedy," Champlin said.
