REDDING, Conn. -- Joel Barlow High School seniors Aidan Bridwell and Caroline Murphy polished off their fall crew season with strong performances at multiple regattas recently.
First, Bridwell and Murphy both took gold in the Men’s Quad and Women’s Quad races at the Head of the Schuylkill regatta in Pennsylvania. Billed as the largest regatta in Philadelphia, and second largest in America, the Head of the Schuylkill course spans 2.5 miles from start-to-finish, and contains four bridges in total.
Murphy placed fourth in the Women’s double event as well.
The gold streak continued for both rowers at the annual Head of the Fish regatta in Saratoga Springs, New York. Bridwell finished first in the Men’s Junior 1V Quad event and Murphy struck gold as well in the Women’s Junior 1V Quad event.
Finally, Indian Well State Park in Shelton was the site of the annual Head of the Housatonic regatta where Bridwell captured first place in the Men’s Junior 4X event and Murphy scored a silver medal in the Women’s Junior Quad event.
“Caroline and Aidan continue to impress me with their dominance in the many regattas we attend,” said Yan Vengerovskiy, men’s head varsity coach and proprietor of Maritime Rowing Club in Norwalk.
