An allegedly intoxicated man is facing a driving under the influence charge after police say they found him asleep at the wheel with the engine running.
Members of the New Canaan Police Department were dispatched to the intersection of Hoyt Street and East Avenue shortly before 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, Jan 13, where there was a report of a driver slouched over the steering wheel.
Upon arrival at the intersection, officers found Wilton resident Jude Travers-Frazier, 46, asleep in the driver’s seat with the engine running. Travers-Frazier was initially unresponsive to attempts by officers to wake him up, police said.
According to police, Travers-Frazier woke up and officers detected the smell of alcohol on his breath. He proceeded to fail several Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and he was arrested.
Travers-Frazier was transported to New Canaan Police Headquarters for processing, where he refused to take a breathalyzer. Travers-Frazier was arrested and charged with illegal operation of a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Following his arraignment, Travers-Frazier was released on $250 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, Jan. 23 to respond to the charge.
