Police are investigating after a victim allegedly had his identity stolen and credit cards in Westchester opened in his name.

Darien Police received a complaint of an incidence of possible fraud on Monday, March 11 around 5:15 p.m. The complainant stated that he believed someone had used his personal information to open a credit card.

The victim also told officers that he had received a notification from Williams-Sonoma stating that a credit card had been opened in his name. The company told him that the card was opened in a Williams-Sonoma store in White Plains. Furthermore, the company alleged that the card had been charged on Sunday, Feb. 24 in the amount of $2,957.

The victim also showed officers a letter he received informing him that an application for a Nordstrom account had been denied. He stated that he hadn’t applied for either of the accounts himself.

After the fraudulent activity, the complainant stated that he checked his credit cards and discovered two fraudulent charges, both of which were made at Ulta Beauty stores. The first was made on Friday, Feb. 22 in the amount of $111.16. The other was made Friday, Feb. 8 in the amount of $85.

The complainant told officers that the card in question had never left his possession. Investigations are ongoing.
