Man Charged With Murder In Norwalk Stabbing Of Former HS Basketball Standout

The 29-year-old man apprehended for the fatal stabbing of a former high school basketball standout in Norwalk has now been charged with murder.

Sheldon Frierson, 29 of Norwalk, was identified as a person of interest in the death of Michael Moody, 29, of Norwalk, who was found stabbed to death outside his Fairfield Avenue home just over a week ago.

Known as a talented basketball player, Moody played at Brien McMahon High School in Norwalk, where he was known for his "smooth," jump shot, was stabbed around 1 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 8.

Norwalk detectives charged Frierson with murder on Friday morning, Feb. 16. He is being held on a $1,000,000 bond and will be presented in court Friday on the murder charge.

Frierson had been arrested at the scene of the stabbing and was charged with a violation of a protective order. The victim of the violation was a third party at the scene. Frierson has been in custody since his arrest.
