A man found shot and killed in Bridgeport has been identified by police.

Philip Ingram, 57, of Bridgeport, became the city's third homicide victim of the year when he was shot around 9:10 a.m., Friday, Feb. 14, said Scott Appleby, director of the Office of Emergency Management.

According to Appleby, the department received a call from a man around 9 a.m., saying that he had just had a verbal altercation with another person who brandished a weapon in the area of Artic and Jane streets.

The caller followed the individual with the weapon and while police were en route to the scene, the city's ShotSpotter indicated that shots had been fired in the 800 block of Kossuth Street around 9:09 a.m., Appleby said.

Anyone with information regarding this crime is asked to call the Bridgeport Police at 203-576-TIPS.
