Easton Resident Unloading Debris Killed After Being Hit By Car Driven By 92-Year-Old

A 73-year-old Easton resident died Monday after he was struck by a vehicle at the Trumbull Transfer Station.

Alexander Trup was hit around noon on Friday, Feb. 8, while unloading debris from his vehicle when he was hit by a car driven by Edward Socha, 92, of Trumbull, said Trumbull Police Capt. Keith Golding.

Witnesses said that Socha was backing toward the building to unload material when his vehicle lurched backward struck Trup, knocking him to the ground. The car continued to travel backward in a circle and backed over him, Golding said.

Trup was transported to Bridgeport Hospital with multiple injuries. He died on Monday. 

His cause of death has yet to be determined, Golding said.

The incident is being investigated by the Trumbull Police Department Traffic Division.

No charges will be filed until the investigation has been completed.
