TRUMBULL, Conn. — Trumbull was cleaning up Thursday after powerful overnight storms knocked down trees and knocked out power.

According to United Illuminating, 111 customers in town were without power as of 12:30 p.m. Thursday. But downed wires caused even bigger problems.

A Trumbull school bus became entangled with several live wires on Bassick Road at about 7 a.m., Long Hill Fire Department Deputy Chief Alex Rauso told the Trumbull Times.

UI was called in to secure the scene and help remove the five students safely from the bus, the Times said.

Downed wires on Stonehouse Road and Bullfrog Lane caught fire, forcing UI to cut power in that area, the Trumbull Times said. No further damage was reported.
