REDDING, Conn. -- The Redding Board of Selectmen voted not to put stop signs on Umpawaug Road, according to a report on WLAD-AM.
Redding police proposed a temporary stop sign at Marchant and Umpawaug Road - making it a 3-way stop. The sign would have been up for the duration of the closure on Route 53, and then re-evaluated. Traffic has increased on Umpawaug since the closure of Route 53. A new bridge is being constructed on Route 53, and is expected to be completed in September.
Members of the town's Volunteer Fire Department said a sign would slow response time. Click here for the WLAD story.
