The piglets were born on Saturday, April 9, at Connecticut's Beardsley Zoo in the Fairfield County city of Bridgeport, the zoo announced on Thursday, April 14.
The piglets' parents are Harry Plopper, who is the Zoo's elected animal mayor, and Ethel, one of Harry's companions in the farmyard, the zoo said.
Ethel and Harry arrived at the zoo in June of 2021 from New York.
“This is a great time of year to visit the zoo and witness the new life that this time of year brings — whether it’s the new baby animals or the beautiful flowers that are in bloom,” Zoo Director Gregg Dancho said. “Piglets are some of the most recognizable animals to small children, so we invite everyone to enjoy spring in the Farmyard and help us welcome our adorable new members of the Zoo family.”
Guests can see the litter, which includes three male piglets and two female piglets, in the Scinto Family Pig Pen.
The zoo said another Guinea hog sow, Doris, is also expected to give birth soon.
