REDDING, Conn. — Two men and two women were honored at Joel Barlow High for coming to the rescue of six teenagers after a fiery crash in April in Redding, according to the Connecticut Post.
Chris Consiglio was finishing a pizza delivery on April 14 when saw a black Jeep Liberty swerve and hit a tree on Route 107 in the Georgetown area, according to the Post.
Consiglio, 31, of Yonkers, N.Y., pulled over and ran to help as flames began to spread from under the Jeep, the Post said.
One boy was thrown from the Jeep, and one girl was hanging partway out of the Jeep, the Post said.
Richard Nichio, Ann Brown and Kim Plourde, who were all driving by, also stopped to help, pulling the teens from the burning car and staying with them until first responders arrived, the Connecticut Post said.
All six teenagers survived but suffered serious injuries. Two were from Easton and two from Redding, all of whom attend Joel Barlow High School. The other two teens are from Fairfield, with one attending Warde High School, and the other attending a private school.
Three of students attended the ceremony Wednesday and thanked their rescuers, the Post said.
