CT Man Admits To Using App To Receive, Distribute Child Porn

A 29-year-old Connecticut man will spend mandatory time behind bars after admitting to posing as a teenager, then disseminating and receiving child pornography through a social media app.

New Britain resident Dylan Koerner, formerly of West Hartford, pleaded guilty on Monday, Sept. 21 to the distribution of child pornography through Kik.

U.S. Attorney John Durham said that between July and October last year, Koerner used a false identity, posed as a teenager on the mobile app to solicit child pornography from other Kik users he believed to be minor females.

Koerner also admitted to distributing images and videos of child pornography to other users.

When he was arrested, his Koerner’s cellphone and an external hard drive were seized by investigators, which led to the discovery of 121 separate images and nine unique videos depicting child porn.

Koerner was released on a $100,000 bond. When he is sentenced on Monday, Dec. 14, Koerner will face a mandatory minimum of five years and a maximum term of 20 years in prison.
