The CDC announced on Tuesday, April 27 that people who are fully vaccinated - two weeks after getting one shot of Johnson & Johnson or two doses of Pfizer or Moderna - will no longer have to wear masks while gathering in small groups outside.

Gov. Ned Lamont said that Connecticut will be joining most other states in adopting the new CDC guidance, which came days before the state eases restrictions for restaurants and some businesses statewide.

As of Saturday, May 1, the curfew for businesses in Connecticut will be pushed back to 12 a.m., and all outdoor restrictions will be lifted. At restaurants, alcohol without food will be permitted, and the size of parties' dining will no longer be limited.

Beginning on Wednesday, May 19, all remaining business restrictions will end, and the Department of Public Health will provide recommendations for the safe operation of indoor and outdoor events.

Facial coverings will still be required indoors at all Connecticut venues.

Connecticut continues to see improved COVID-19 numbers, with a day-to-day positive infection rate of 3.24 percent, up slightly from the weekend, and there are fewer than 450 patients being treated for the virus in state hospitals.
