'The Voice' Winner From Stratford Helps At Fundraiser To Aid The Homeless
GREENWICH, Conn. -- "The Voice" winner and Stratford native Javier Colon will perform at the 10th annual Close to Home event in Greenwich this February to benefit the Pacific House Young Adult Program that helps young adults avoid a lifetime of homelessness. TRUMBULL, Conn. — The Kennedy Center has a new president and CEO — Richard Sebastian Jr. of Shelton. Sebastian has been appointed effective Jan. 2. He succeeds Martin Schwartz of Trumbull, who is retiring after nearly 40 years of service. Griffin’s Wonderland Of Trees Raises $9,300 For Spooner House In Shelton
SHELTON, Conn. – Griffin Hospital’s annual Holiday Wonderland of Trees fundraiser collected more than $9,300 for Spooner House in Shelton to help feed and shelter area families in need this winter. As part of Griffin’s Planetree Person-Centered Care Philosophy, the Holiday Wonderland of Trees calls on hospital departments to decorate 3-foot artificial evergreen trees that are raffled off. The fundraiser aims to help improve health the community by supporting the Spooner House’s services. This is the seventh year of the fundraiser, which has raised more than $47,000 in total.

Paulie Packes was only 9 days old when his father, Anthony, a Stamford resident who grew up in Hawthorne, died of a brain tumor at the age of 36. A GoFundMe page has been launched for the Packes family. As of Friday morning, the page has raised $51,565 in four days from 325 people. Anthony was diagnosed with a brain tumor in March 2015. And making his birth even more special: Nico Anthony Mastronardi is the first baby born at Bridgeport Hospital in 2018. He is the second child of Lisa and Michael Mastronardi, joining 2-year- old big brother Luca. Nico weighed 7 pounds, 4 ounces when he arrived at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 1.
