Historian Considers Berlin Olympics at Monroe Library Event

MONROE, Conn. -- The public is welcomed to come explore "Hitler's Games," the 1936 Berlin Olympics, on Saturday, March 12, at Monroe's Edith Wheeler Memorial Library.

Mark Albertson, author and historian, will explore the dark reality beneath the showcasing of the 1936 Olympics and how it foreshadowed the events to come. "In addition to being the Olympic games in which Jessie Owens won his gold, there were countless side stories and undercurrents that made these among the most fascinating games in modern history," a press release notes.

This presentation is part of the Monroe Reads Together program, but you do not have to read the book to attend this event.
