STRATFORD, Conn. -- Stratford's Board of Education is seeking an $8 million increase for its budget for 2016-17, reported the Stratford Star.
Members of the school board completed the budget work at a special meeting Tuesday, asking for a $107.9 million total budget request, $8 million above this year's package of $99.9 million, according to the Stratford Star.
The increase includes an additional amount for 13 more certified staff members, which would bring the total to 546.8 certified staff members, said the Stratford Star.
Plant maintenance would see an increase to $3.18 million over the present total of $2.83 million, while costs of staff for special education would increase to $11.7 million, more than $1.09 million from the current budget, the Stratford Star reported.
