At a rally in El Paso, the president said that the Westchester high school graduate’s plan to combat climate change “sounds like a high school term paper that got a low mark.” Trump said that the plan would involve taking away cars, tearing down buildings and shuttering air travel.

“I think it is very important for the Democrats to press forward with their Green New Deal. It would be great for the so-called 'Carbon Footprint' to permanently eliminate all Planes, Cars, Cows, Oil, Gas & the Military - even if no other country would do the same. Brilliant!,” Trump posted on social media over the weekend.

In response, Ocasio-Cortez, a 2007 Yorktown High School graduate, took to Twitter to combat the commander-in-chief.

“Ah yes, a man who can’t even read briefings written in full sentences is providing literary criticism of a House Resolution,” she posted. “(‘Reading the intelligence book is not Trump’s preferred ‘style of learning,’ according to a person with knowledge of the situation.’ - @washingtonpost,” she added, in reference to a report last year that stated Trump skips reading intelligence briefings and prefers oral reports.

The Democrat’s proposed Green New Deal calls for the elimination of the nation’s carbon footprint through investments in clean energy and jobs that support new technology and infrastructure.  The bill calls for a “10-year national mobilization” that is geared toward completing a series of goals laid out in the legislation.

The deal calls for "meeting 100 percent of the power demand in the United States through clean, renewable, and zero-emission energy sources." The ultimate goal is to stop using fossil fuels entirely, Ocasio-Cortez's office stated, noting that they also seek to steer clear of nuclear energy.

The proposal stresses that it aims to meet its goals while still paying particular attention to disenfranchised groups in the poor, disabled and minority communities that might be impacted by such a massive economic transition.

On Twitter this week, Ocasio-Cortez posted recipes for “cocktails for revolution” with a winking emoji.

"World w/o a #GreenNewDeal: a Bitter Dark n’ Stormy

- Clean transport: an Aviation, but hold the crème de violette

- Bridges, Not Walls: a Mezcal Greyhound

- Paid Parental Leave: Mocktail margarita

- Policy Failure: anything w/ Goldschläger."
