STRATFORD, Conn. -- The Stratford EMS Honor Guard graduated its first academy of the new Guard.

Among those who graduated were volunteer EMT Lauren Botsford, volunteer EMT/Supervisor Scott Burton, volunteer EMT Lt. Commander Kevin Callahan, volunteer EMT Tom Hallas, volunteer EMT/Supervisor Sgt. Chris Mancini and volunteer EMT Jeff Shaw.

Per Diem EMT, Dominick Juliano led all attendees in prayer to begin the event. The graduating cadets assumed the "Colors" from the "Old" SEMS Honor Guard and now make up the new Honor Guard.

The ceremony featured the changing of the Guard and a remembrance of the fallen where Chaplain Tim Bolton from St. Vincent's gave the benediction.

A memorial plaque dedication and a dedication of the new 804 to Victoria Soto, followed.

Paramedic Mike Paoletto (Honor Guard Commander) orchestrated the event with his cadets. Administrator Kevin Giasullo "MC'd" the event. Director Michael Loiz gave the memorial plaque dedication and Mayor John Harkins participated in jacketing the new graduates with their new Class-A jacket.

There were several local dignitaries present including Rep. Sredzinski, Rep. McGorty and Rep. Hoydick as well as other regional EMS and Public Safety service chiefs and representation.

Both the Stratford Fire Department and Police Department Honor Guards were also present and participated in the event.

The Stratford Emergency Medical Service was established in December of 1977 by the Town of Stratford to provide emergency medical services to the community.
