Man Attempted To Lure 4-Year-Old Girl At Library On Long Island, Police Say

A 30-year-old man was arrested after inappropriately touching a 4-year-old girl at a Long Island library.

Jose Aparicio was arrested at approximately 3:15 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 14, after he had an inappropriate interaction with the girl at the Huntington Station library, Suffolk County Police said.

Aparicio gave the girl a stuffed animal, asked her to come with him, and touched her hair at the library. The girl’s mother confronted Aparicio and he proceeded to flee.

The investigation into the incident led to the arrest of Aparicio, who police say is homeless and who was taken into custody on Tuesday, Oct. 15 at approximately 11 a.m.

Aparicio was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and is currently being held at the Second Precinct. He is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Wednesday, Oct. 16.
