STRATFORD, Conn. -- The Roosevelt Forest Commission in Stratford has ordered an end to lethal beaver trapping, according to the Connecticut Post.

The commission also declared that no hunting or trapping would be permitted in the 400-acre northern Stratford forest, the Connecticut Post reported.

Due to the possible threat of a rising beaver pond to area homes, the commission also declared it would pursue the installation of a special pipe system to lower the pond's level, said the Connecticut Post.

Roosevelt Forest is located at 700 N. Peters Lane.
