STRATFORD, Conn. -- The former Raymark superfund site soon may become a self-storage facility on East Broadway now that the Town of Stratford has agreed to sell the property, according to the Stratford Star.
Mayor John Harkins said in a press release the successful redevelopment of the property is crucial, especially with the Environmental Protection Agency on the verge of releasing a comprehensive plan to remediate the remainder of the Raymark properties in Stratford. The redevelopment of the property also will contribute to a reinvigorated economic development corridor along Ferry Boulevard, Harkins said.
Working with the EPA, the Salce Companies (the purchaser) and the Connecticut Department of Energy, Harkins said the sale will result in $250,000 in revenues and put the property back on the tax rolls, said the Stratford Star.
