The 31-foot-patrol boat is the newest in the department's marine unit in which McCune was once a member.

Attending the event were McCune's family including his parents, sons, brothers and other relatives. They were joined by members of the Totorello and Moorefield families in honor of Lts. Gary Tortorello and Robert Moorefield who also have vessels named in their honor.

McCune, a longtime officer with the department, died on Sept. 12, 2016, at the age of 56.

The 35-year-member of the department began his career as a corrections officer in 1981 and later moved to the department's Patrol Division as a patrol officer in 1984. He advanced to sergeant, then a lieutenant, then captain -- the rank from which he retired in April 2016.

McCune also served 20 years on their SWAT team and as a supervisor with the marine and transport units.

Other agencies attending the event included the Stony Point, Haverstraw, Clarkstown police department, the New York State Police, Westchester County Police, the N.J. PIP Police Department, and the U.S. Coast Guard, as well County Executive Ed Day,
