Contract Plating Plant Demolition Begins In Stratford

STRATFORD, Conn. – State Rep. Terry Backer, Stratford Mayor John Harkins and representatives of the state Department of Energy were present Thursday as demolition began on the old Contract Plating plant, according to the Connecticut Post.

The plant has sat empty since 1995, and just under $3 million in state grant money was given to demolish the buildings on the lot, the story said.

Backer called the plant part of "a legacy of an unregulated era," reported the Connecticut Post.

Cleanup is expected to be complete by January, the story said.
