STRATFORD, Conn. – Need to have your lawn mowed or your dog walked? Call Rent-A-Kid at the Sterling House Community Center in Stratford.
The center is acting as a referral service for local residents, particularly seniors and families with young children, who need someone to take on light household tasks, yardwork or even tutoring.
It also gives local youngsters the chance to gain some experience in the working world and, it says, fosters respect between the generations.
The service is not, Sterling House said, intended to be used by business owners looking for part-time or per diem workers.
Pay is negotiable, depending on the job, but the going rate is $5 an hour, the center said.
Parents must sign up their kids and sign permission forms that can be gotten at the center’s main office.
The center recommends parents meet their children’s prospective employers.
It also says it accepts no responsibility or liability for any injuries to the children, adults or property.
For more information, contact Pam Robertson, the center’s youth volunteer coordinator, by calling (203) 378-2606 Ext. 113 or e-mailing probertson@sterlinghousecc.org.
Sterling House is at 2283 Main St., Stratford.
