STRATFORD, Conn. – Due to popular demand, the Stratford Library Adult Services Department will continue its series of free, one-session computer classes for beginners through June at the Stratford Library.

The sessions, which are free and open to the public, will be offered Tuesdays from 2-4 p.m. with class size limited to three. The workshop schedule is:

  • May 3 and 24, June 7: Meet the Computer, Windows 7. New to computers? Never tried using one before? In this course, students will get to meet the computer, the keyboard and the mouse and learn what they are and how to use them. No experience is necessary.
  • May 10 and 31, June 14: Exploring the Internet. Having trouble finding what you need on the Internet? This course is geared to the new Internet user and begins with an overview of websites, browsers and online safety. Then it's off to discover some of the best the Internet has to offer including sites for lifelong learning and entertainment.
  • May 17 and June 21: Introduction to Microsoft Office Word 2007. Learn the basics of using Word to create professional looking letters, resumes and other documents. Class will cover tool bar features, formatting and editing. Before taking this course, participants should have some experience with the computer and the Windows operating system.
  • June 28: Facebook 1 – The Starter Kit. The basics of using Facebook, creating an account and learning how to post messages and photos online will be covered in this introductory course. After this session, students will be able to use Facebook on their own.
