Hannah, a yellow lab, has been trained to detect a heat-reducing chemical called triphenylphosphine oxide, present in all electronic storage devices. After graduating from her 10-week training course in March, Hannah can technically work on any type of cybercrime; however, her abilities are most often used to combat sex offenders.
Hannah and her handler, John Hyla, of the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, successfully located a series of electronic storage devices during a search at an abandoned office building in the town of Southeast. In one case, micro SD cards had been hidden in a secret compartment within a water bottle concealed behind a fire extinguisher.
“This is huge! What a great way to learn more about Hannah, handled by Investigator Hyla, as well as her 13 classmates. Good job Hannah!" said Putnam County Sheriff's Department officials.
There’s no denying that Hannah is one patient and passionate pooch - no sniffs, ands or buts about it.
