Stamford Closes Mygatt Recycling Center for Snow

The city of Stamford has announced that because of the snowy weather forecast for Friday, the Mygatt Recycling Center is closed. Center staff members are needed for the expected snow removal on city streets. However, the Scofieldtown Recycling Center will be open from 7 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. Garbage and recycling collections are expected to operate as scheduled Friday.

The forecast calls for heavy snow Friday in Stamford. Although the National Weather Service has lifted its Winter Storm Watch for the region, a Winter Weather Advisory has been issued and will be in effect until midnight. Snow accumulation of up to 5 inches could make for hazardous travel conditions, including low visibility.

Stamford Public Schools also are bracing for the impending snow. All public schools in the district will dismissed early today.
