Dog Whisperer, Mother, Friend Jane Treichler Howard-Johnson Of Stamford Dies
A longtime Stamford resident who is being remembered as a dog whisper, devoted mother and friend, Jane Treichler Howard-Johnson died Thursday, July 25 in Stamford, at age 60.
She was born on July 22, 1959, in Cedar Grove, New Jersey, to Glen DeForest Treichler and Elizabeth Burke Treichler.
She was a 34-year resident of Stamford.
Howard-Johnson met her husband Peter at Bucknell University, where she was a member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority. Following graduation, they married and were married for 35 years.

Oh Rats! The Four-Legged Vermin 'Taking Over NYC,' Report Says
Rats have gone from lurking in the shadows to literally taking over some streets in New York City, according to a new report.
The New York Times reported on Wednesday, May 22 that rat sightings are up 38 percent from 2014, citing data from OpenTheBooks.com. There were 12,617 sightings reported in 2014, a number which has jumped to 17,353 just four years later.
According to the report, in that same time period, during that time frame, the number of time city health inspectors found active signs of rat activities has nearly doubled.

Longtime Stamford Firefighter, Greenwich HS Grad John Labati Dies
Longtime Stamford firefighter and Greenwich High School graduate John Robert Labati died on Thursday, Sept. 29. He was 88.
Born in New York City on Oct. 18, 1929, to the late John and Margaret Ochelli Labati, Labati, attended Greenwich High School, where he was a track star. Following graduation, he served two tours of duty in the U. S. Army, said Stamford Fire Department Capt. Philip Hayes.
